OWL Parents Orientation Session Thursday
The time has come to begin classes for Our Whole Lives(OWL) comprehensive sexuality education curriculum, for grades 7 through 9. The first step is our OWL Parents Orientation session, Thursday, March 20, at 7 PM at First UU Church on Jefferson & S. Claiborne. Childcare will be provided upon request; please let me know by Tuesday if you will have a need.
The orientation session is mandatory for parents/guardians of OWL students, and serves three major purposes:
1. To allow the parents/guardians to review the OWL materials and formally indicate their approval of their child's participation in the program;
2. To allow the parents/guardians to work with the OWL teachers to determine the class schedule for the rest of the Spring;
3. To allow the parents/guardians to meet the OWL teachers and each other.
If you are a parent or guardian interested in the class for your child and are unable to attend Thursday's session, please contact me right away to see what accommodation can be made.
For further information about the OWL program, please check out the information page on the Unitarian Universalist Association website.
First UU has a strong history of offering OWL classes in the past, and we are very proud to be able to offer this life-affirming program for the first time post-Katrina. Non-UU families and members of neighboring UU congregations are welcomed to attend.
