Next month will be the 25th anniversary of the Gillespie Breakfast. The speaker will be Mildred
Fossier, native New Orleanean, 95 years young, who has lived in the Carrollton area all her life. Fossier, is known for her committment to conservation efforts and she played a key role in the establishment of Bayou Sauvage. She was involved in civil rights and was the first woman to head the city’s Welfare Department. She later was head of the Department of Parks and Parkways during the Moon Landrieu administration. She is going to talk about the struggles of women in the labor market; one woman's perseverance.
Everyone in the progressive community should know Mildred. She is a New Orleans icon.
Come get to know Mildred and celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Gillespie Breakfast.
