It’s been an interesting two weeks trying to fill Ann Maclaine’s shoes. They don’t fit. I have a new perspective on the entirety of what Ann was shouldering as our past board president, and I am AMAZED! The magnitude of her gift to this congregation and our vision is something that only comes from deep love. Thank you, Ann. I encourage each of you to give her your own thanks.
But, don’t think that because she has stepped down as board president that she is resting on her laurels. This past weekend she brought money into the church through her coordination of our rummage sale. On Sunday, she brought order out of chaos in our discussion of our building needs... amazing, simply amazing. Oh, and Monday night she, and Mary Jo Day, sat down with some new renters to finalize a contract.
And speaking of this past Sunday, for those of you who don’t know, there was flooding from the intense storm that poured down on the city in the early morning. The few who made it to the church sat around with water marks up to their knees. Needless to say there was not a quorum, so we were not able to call a meeting or vote, so our special congregational meeting has been rescheduled for this coming Sunday, June 22 after the service. Please attend, and remind everyone who is part of First Church to attend. This is important.
There will be a board meeting this Thursday, June 19 at 7:30 PM. Many of our board members are out of town so we are meeting at my home (1643 Josephine St. #208) in order to try video conferencing with some of them. As always this is an open meeting. Feel free to join us.
Stumbling Along With Love,
Cherie LeBlanc, President, Board of Trustees
