Unitarian Universalists
From Community Church:
“Pursuant to new FEMA flood maps which require that our renovated church building be raised an additional 30” (our lot is already built up about 4 feet above street level), we will be demolishing our structure, slab and all, and building anew from the ground up. We expect to be able to modify the architect’s floor plan rather than having to start over, but we will have much more flexibility. The estimated costs have not increased significantly, so we feel this is probably a good decision in every way, involuntary though it initially was.”
From First Church:
“We and the NO-AIDS Task Force, our partners in rebuilding our kitchen, are in discussions with other community groups about further partnerships to serve the larger community. Since one of our GNOUU goals is providing space in our facilities for community groups, this is a major step forward, along with the new rentals to Gym Rompers and Jazzercise.”
The latest news from the General Assembly in
We’re currently approaching UU congregations all across the country to ask them to join our partner church network and to find ways they can support the rebuilding and revitalization efforts for Unitarian Universalism in the Greater New Orleans area. Congregations are considering potential gifts as high as $100,000 over a three-year period.
Lastly – we have GNOUU tee-shirts for sale at $20.00. How about we wear them for our Katrina Anniversary Dinner next month?? Get ‘em while they last!
