"Hope as a Spiritual Discipline"
The Rev. Kimberly Miner
While Rev. Melanie preaches to and ministers with NSUU, our sister congregation across the Lake, we will host Rev. Kim Miner as our guest minister. Rev. Kim is a UU minister using her sabbatical from St. Paul's Universalist Church, in Little Falls, NY, to volunteer at the Rebirth Volunteer Center. She writes: "Our liberal religious faith tends toward optimism, even when the situation doesn't warrant it. However, we are called to maintain hope even in difficult circumstances. What does our tradition have to offer in the face of adversity?" A timely topic for us New Orleanians -- invite your friends.

Annual Celebration of Poetry Service
led by Alice Abel Kemp
For so many of us, poetry speaks to us in ways that prose never can. We will lift up and share some of our most beloved and inspirational poems, some old, some new, some by famous poets, and some by folks in the church. Contact Alice (aliceakemp@mac.com) if you'd like to be a part of this special service. (Rev. Melanie will be away this weekend leading a Jubilee World anti-racism workshop for the Metro New York District.)
