RE Classes for Autumn 2007

Nursery (wee babes through age 4)
Tender loving childcare is provided each Sunday (and for all congregational events upon request) in our Nursery, from 10 AM through 12 noon.

"Chalice Children"
(Pre-K – 1st Grade and/or ages 3.5 –7)
Chalice Children introduces our youngest students to the world of Unitarian Universalism. Based on the premise that children learn best through experience, this program helps nurture spiritual growth, creativity and a sense of community through imaginative activities and rituals such as rhymes and fingerplays.

“Spirit of Adventure”
(Grades 2-5 and/or ages 7-11)
This UU identity curriculum uses physical movement, challenge and adventure to teach elementary aged children our seven principles. Spirit of Adventure is divided into eight themes: Sports, Medicine, Food, Holidays, Science, Building, Exploring and Web of Life. For example, in the lessons on sports, children learn how to be good winners, losers and members of a team. The lessons in medicine help children learn a reverence for life while the lessons on food emphasize hunger and sharing. Each lesson uses one of these eight themes to help guide students to develop an understanding of the seven UU Principles while having fun!

"Traditions with a Wink"

(Grades 6-9 and/or ages 11-15)
We have powerful stories and visions of hope to share with our older children as they emerge as younger youth and begin the process of shaping their own faith. It teaches our Unitarian Universalist story along with social activities that are filled with fun.

“YRUU” (Grades 9-12 and/or ages 14-20)
YRUU (Young Religious Unitarian Universalists) is a youth group from age 14-20. The YRUU plan social activities, have fun, raise funds, organize social action, and get together to share time and ideas. Because the youth group leads and creates their own schedule, it tends to be a rather flexible thing, with the norm being twice monthly meetings on Sundays, and regular participation in regional UU youth events. Please contact the DRE for details on when they meet or to confirm an event.
