First Church's veryown Katrina play, KATRINA/ULTREYA: Moving Forward With Courage, will be performed on December 9th at 3:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 3401 Canal Street, NOLA. "K/U" is the story of former First Church member Mary Gehman's experiences during and following Katrina. Members Janet Spencer and Laura Miller adapted the story for the stage, and Janet has been touring and performing it at UU congregations around the country. This performance is a benefit for The People Program, a non-denominational senior citizen program, operating at three locations in greater New Orleans. The suggested donation is $10.
Several First Church members will be in the cast, including Laura Miller, Mary Jo Day, Reese Brewer and Lucy Tucker. Community UU Church members Mary Brunson and Ira Weinstein will also participate. Bill Snider will make the music and Janet Spencer directs. Come out and support them. Bring tissues.
