Scott Ritter at First Church,Wednesday, February 20 at 7pm

An outstanding leader in the movement to substitute American diplomatic initiative for armed force will appear in New Orleans during Presidents Week at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 5212 South Claiborne Avenue, at the intersection with Jefferson Avenue.

Major Scott Ritter (US Marines, ret.) will speak on Wednesday, February 20 at 7:00pm in the sanctuary of the church.

Author of “Target Iran”, “Iraq Confidential”, and “Waging Peace”, former UN weapons inspector SCOTT RITTER will discuss his views on corporate-media coverage of the US occupation of Iraq, the Bush administration’s plans for the “War on Terror,” and the urgent need to replace militarism with diplomacy. Ritter proposes national inquiry into US global engagement in general and US treatment of Iran and Iraq in particular.

Scott Ritter is stopping in New Orleans while making the rounds of major US cities on his US Tour of Duty. His urgency is reflected in his belief that “history will show that the US-led war with Iran will not have begun once a formal statement is offered by the Bush administration, but, rather, had already been under way since June 2005, when the CIA began its program of MEK-executed terror bombings in Iran.”
Ritter’s presentation is sponsored by the Iran Talks, which are supported by US Tour of Duty, Peace Action, and Fellowship of Reconciliation. The New Orleans event is additionally co-sponsored by the Social Justice Team of First Church, New Orleans Coalition Against War, and Pax Christi of New Orleans, as well as individual supporters
