"Thanksgiving Dinner Dating Service"

Dear Friends,

Everybody should have a warm and welcoming place to share in a delicious Thanksgiving meal. In past years, there were enough willing church volunteers that a shared Thanksgiving dinner could be held at the church to which anyone could come who wanted or needed a place to go for the holiday. This year, for many different reasons, we do not have any volunteers who are able to organize and cook for such a Thanksgiving dinner at the church.

But that doesn't mean we cannot reach out and care for each other during this important holiday. We are proposing a "Thanksgiving Dinner Dating Service" and we'll need your help to make it work.

We're asking for two kinds of people to contact the church office by phone or email:

First, please let us know if you are able and willing to host some church folk at YOUR Thanksgiving dinner, wherever you are having it. Give us particulars, such as "I can host 2 people, the meal will be vegetarian, and we're a non-smoking home" or "We can host 3 people, we're having traditional turkey and all the trimmings, and there's a dog in our house." This will help us to do a good match-ups.

Second, please let us know if you need or want a place to share Thanksgiving Dinner, and be specific. "Two people, no allergies, can bring the bread." "One person, allergic to cats, can't bring anything." "Two people, will eat anything, need a ride." "One adult, one child, need high chair, won't eat oysters."

In order for this to work, we'll LOTS of participation, and we'll lots of information, and we'll need it FAST. Please get in touch with the church if you can help all of us go "home for the holidays."

In faith that we can do this,
Rev. Melanie
