Jazz Fest Tickets for First Church Pledgers!

As has been true for a number of years, the church will be eligible for some free Jazz Fest tickets for this year’s festival (April 25-27, May 1-4). As of right now, we do not know exactly how many tickets we will receive; this is something out of our control.

We know that that many First Churchers could not go to Jazz Fest except for the free tickets, and we know that many more First Churchers would be financially more comfortable with free tickets, even though they might be able to afford to buy some. With so many folks wanting free tickets, and the church to receive a limited number, the Board of Trustees has decided on an equitable way to distribute those tickets.

The name of every person, member or friend, who is a First Church Pledger will be placed into a container, and the names will be drawn out at random. Please note that ONLY Pledgers will be eligible! (If you contribute without pledging, this might be a good time to turn your regular contribution into a Pledge! And if you’ve been thinking about pledging, but haven’t done so yet, this is a great time to get it done.)

As the names are drawn, the “winners” will be notified by phone and email. If that person already has tickets, or doesn’t want to go, another name will be drawn from the Pledgers Pot, until all the free tickets have been distributed.

Get those Pledges in – and good luck on the Jazz Fest ticket lottery at First Church!

UU World for All First UU Church members

I have just received the current issue of the UUWorld. Since I have been in communication with the circulation department to up date our subscription list, I need to know if you received your issue. All First UU Church members are entitled to receive this publication.

Please let me know if you got your copy of the UU World via the church office.

The Membership Team Needs YOUR help.

Why are we asking you to sign that irksome register every time you attend church? It is important. We are establishing a member/friend data base that will allow us to serve our congregants better. We will be able to see if there are those that wish to join the church; we will also be able to tell when a regular attendee is no longer attending. Perhaps they are ill and need our help but are too shy to ask. We can then pass their name along to the Caring committee for contact and help. Maybe they are no longer interested in the church. We can contact them and hopefully they would share the reasons why, and we can improve our services with that knowledge. And there are other reasons, but suffice to say, the Membership Teams Needs Your Help!!!

Oh, and please wear your name tags--it helps visitors and those of us who sometimes need help with names.
